Shaper & Maker

modeller & gamer

Commoners (or non-combatants) are miniatures that have a lot of use in rpg's. A combat becomes a lot more interesting when the villains are among civilians, the heroes need to organize defense of a village full of peasants or the heroes will anger the townsfolk when they are surrounded by hundreds of them.

It's time for another terrain -related article, this time it's one of my personal favourites. The fountain can be used in almost any genre as they are present everywhere, and modelling streaming water was an interesting project. This article shows you phase by phase how the model was made, allowing you to create fountains and other water-filled elements of your own.

When designing or running an adventure, you need to be careful about how you use details. While details can make a story alive, they can also make your players fall asleep. If at the end of a hectic chase the player characters enter the villain's headquarters, and gamemaster first describes the general mood with colourful words, then details the magnificent gate that is used for the entrance, the extremely detailed room after the the entrance, the villain's right hand you've designed so well and finally the villain himself, as well as his current lover, impressive throne and his harem, you're likely to have half your group dozing at the table.

A while ago I got my hands of Beasts & Barbarians and realized it was a perfect setting for the Sword & Sorcery campaign I was planning. I've had plans to run only small sandbox -using adventures with little or no preparation, so I wasn't first planning to buy this adventure even if GRAmel had became my favourite publisher. But I was curious to see what the Gazetteer -part of the adventure had so soon I realized having bought the pdf and wanted to use the adventures in my game.

Chases on horsebacks, cavalry charges and extremely cool miniatures. Mounted miniatures are made for Sword & Sorcery, much more than for Dungeons & Dragons! Here I'll present you various mounted/cavalry miniatures you can use for your S&S games. While many of them are DDM, there are also some excellent Mage Knights among them and a view to the Lord of the Rings miniatures.

I'm hooked, I can confess that. Our house has required a lot of money and I've been on budget, and while I do have considerable collection of miniatures, I was very happy to receive my first miniature packet for half a year from my favourite miniatures store - if you've been reading my recent posts, you know which!

Traditionally, most fantasy miniatures represent warriors, wizards and other combatant or adventurous types, and even then only people. This leaves many of us gamemasters want more miniatures, both for scenes taking place in the middle of crowds or where larger, more exotic weapons are used in combat. There are some such items various manufacturers are producing, but mostly they are metal miniatures, and many prepainted miniature collectors want to stay away from those metal ones. While I'm going to give you a few links at the end of the post, I'm now paying attention to what you can find from toy stores or scratchbuild simply.

In the last session, the pc's got a million dollar job from their new big employer. Tony was killed by Joker's missed grenade attack, and this time we had two new characters in play. One of them was actually the first character created, but the player hadn't been able to get in the game in earlier sessions. Ivan 'The rat' is a bit  untidy fixer and Emanuele is an assassin with cyber legs who's quite nerd, playing often a assassin -themed computer game and also talking about it to everyone (who are not interested). Player of Agnes wasn't present.

Another post in the series helping you to find prepainted miniatures for your Sword & Sorcery rpg - this time mostly D&D miniatures, but also some heroscape. I've decided to use Troll and Toad as the site to link the miniatures to as they have a good selection of product lines for sale and get refills from time to time. I'm using mostly cheap miniatures, although there are some more expensive ones, which I'll try to mention.

More photos and links to miniatures I've bought for Sword & Sorcery rpg purposes. This time I'll give you many prepainted heroic/villainy types, black tribal and civilized people, scantily clad bikini heroines, all carefully picked from Mage Knight, Horror clix, heroclix, DDM and Dreamblade.

I've been publishing a lot of roleplaying/gamemastery/miniatures articles recently, and now it's time to get back to modelling. This time I'll show your how to create realistic -looking dunes and desert terrain yourself.

This is a busy week; The game needs a bunch of updates and the week would have been busy for me even without Tracon. There had been some personnel changes in the event organization team which is why e2o has dropped off the printed program.
